Registrations for Viersel 2011

The registrations for Viersel start on May 1. The first month is reserved for athletes with a license of VTDL and inhabitants of Zandhoven and Nijlen. After this month, the registration will be open if there are still vacancies.

Registration, information, regulations triathlon Viersel
WHAT SHOULD I BRING AND WHERE SHOULD I BE.

Race belt for wearing your race number. If you don’t own such a race belt, you can buy one at the reception for 3€.

Viersel is a very location which is very easy to find. It’s only 2km from the E-313!

From the E-313 Antwerp-Hasselt-Luik, you take exit 19 Massenhoven. After this exit you follow direction Lier. After approx. 1 km you turn left to Viersel. You will also find markings ‘TRIATHLON’ on your way so you can’t miss it!

From E34 / A21 Eindhoven-Antwerp, take exit 20. After 8km follow directions Zandhoven-Lier. Then follow directions as described above.

Registration, parking, showers, transition zone are all located at the central area of the triathlon

DISTANCES

  • Youth B+C in accordance with regulations VTDL
  • Triathlon 1/8: swim 600 meters, bike 20 km and run 5 km.
  • Duathlon: run 3 km, bike 20 km and run 3 km (project VTDL Start to Duathlon)
  • Triathlon 1/4: swim 1000 meters (women) and 1500 meters (men), bike 40 km (2x 20.4km) and run 10 km (2x4.9km)
  • You can ‘de-register’ until August 1. You will then receive a ticket for a free participation at next year’s triathlon. Only with a doctor’s prescription, the registration fee will be reimbursed.
  • Account number = 751-2045395-93
  • If you are a member of triathlon club, no medical attestation is needed for participating.

REGULATIONS (the regulations of the VTDL apply! Below you will find a summary)

  • You will receive a race number and a wristband. This wristband gives you access to the transition zone. You will also need this number after the race to pick up your bike from the transition zone. The wristband must be worn all day (including during the race)
  • Cut off for the swimming is 50 mins. for the Olympic distance triathlon. Athletes who come out of the water after more than 50 minutes will be taken out of the race
  • The race number must be worn on the back during the bike and in front during the run.
  • Transition zone for the Olympic distance triathlon opens at 10h40 for race 1 and at 14h30 for race 2. Only athletes wearing the wristband have access to the transition zone.
  • After finishing race 1, please remove your bike as soon as possible from the transition zone, as this zone should be free for race 2. You have time until 14h25. Bikes which have not been removed from the transition zone by that time will be brought outside the transition zone.
  • No cycling is allowed in the transition zone. A helmet should be worn when leaving the transition zone.
  • Race numbers must be returned after the race. When returning the number, you will receive a price (no race number = no price)
  • Olympic distance triathlon: trophy for the first 3 athletes overall + 3 women overall + 3 H40 + 1st D40 + 1st M50 + 1st -23
  • Duathlon: trophy for the first three men and women overall as well as the 1st H40 + H50
  • 1/8 triathlon: trophy for the first three men and women overall, the first three H16 + D16, as well as the 1st H40 + H50
  • Drafting is not allowed and a distance of minimum 10 meters should be respected during the bike leg! Athletes receiving a yellow card have to report themselves after the bike leg in the penalty box, which is located next to the transition zone. The penalty time is 2 mins. Athletes receiving a red card can finish the race but will be removed from the results.
  • The transition zone is a guarded zone. You can pick up your bike with your wristband.
  • Price money Olympic Distance triathlon + 2000€ **

GENERAL

  • Tents and campers are allowed as of Friday afternoon until Monday morning. Showers and toilets are available.
  • The water quality for the swim leg is among the best in Flanders. The swimming happens with a turning point halfway.
  • Both the bike and run course are without any traffic.
